Sun-Times endorses Mullen for State Rep
1/25/10 - CHICAGO – The Chicago Sun-Times has endorsed Ed Mullen for State Representative in the 11th District.
The Sun-Times noted in their endorsement, “Mullen is a fierce advocate for more ethics reform in Springfield and a proponent of budget cuts and a more progressive tax system. He knows Springfield through his work as an attorney and as an engaged citizen, and it shows in his thoughtfulness and nuanced stances on the issues.”
“I am honored by the Sun-Times endorsement,” Mullen said. “Our campaign continues to gain momentum in the communities of the 11th District. The voters are fed up with the insider politics of the past, and they crave a new leader who understands the complexities of public policy issues and has the fortitude to stand up for them.”
The Sun-Times endorsement follows on the heels of Mullen’s endorsement by the Americans for Democratic Action - Northeastern Illinois Chapter. The ADA is the oldest, progressive multi-issue nonprofit organization in the country, focusing on social and economic justice and civil liberties.
“The ADA is proud to endorse Ed Mullen for State Representative.” says chapter president, Richard Means. “Ed is an engaged community member with real solutions to the problems facing our state. As a civil rights lawyer, he has fought for the rights of seniors and people with disabilities. His desire for social justice, combined with his compelling understanding of the issues, makes him the preferred choice in the 11th District.”
These recent endorsements are part of a growing list of progressive organizations, including Equality Illinois PAC, the Victory Fund, Northside Democracy for America, Planned Parenthood, Personal PAC, and Stonewall Democrats.
The Democratic Primary takes place on Tuesday, February 2nd.
